ARTEK Event

The Arctic Technology Centre holds an annually International ARTEK Event conference within the subject of Arctic technology. The conference is held in the town of Sisimiut on the west coast of Greenland.

ARTEK EVENT 2011

Innovation in Greenland is the title of the next ARTEK Event conference to be held on 1th and 2nd of March 2011 in Sisimiut. The conference takes stock of the conditions and possibilities for innovation in Greenland and discusses what it takes to promote and strenghten it.

Background

Innovation is not just about developing new technologies, but it is equally important to make us of the acquired knowledge and technologies in new businesses and industries: from research to invoice and from business development to welfare development! It has been shown in the past that this is a difficult process. There have been many attempts to improve the cooperation between researchers and industry in Greenland, but the results have been few and modest, and despite of many years of discussion, solutions that actually work have been very few.
Therefore ARTEK has chosen to put innovation on the agenda for the annual Artek Event to be held in Sisimiut, the 1st  and  2nd March 2011. We hope that you will find the topic interesting and spend a few days in Sisimiut to jointly evaluate and develop ideas for an innovative future.

ARTEK Event 2009, "Tourist Cottages and Climate Change"

In the days 11 - 13 August 2009 ARTEK held its last international event in Sisimiut entitled "Tourist Cottages, and climate Change". The conference focused on how Greenland can prevent and adapt to climate change. For example by developing an environmental and energy-friendly portable tourist cottage tailored to Arctic conditions; by use of biogas from the Greenland shark for local energy production or by maintenance of the sleding tracks, essential for the dogsleding tourism.
